The beaches

We are just minutes from the most beautiful beaches of the Costa Smeralda. At the renowned Liscia Ruja, the wonderful beaches of Rena Bianca, La Celvia, Cappricioli, Spiaggia del Principe and Romazzino are also nearby. The village's strategic position, like an "escape route" toward the hinterland, is perfect for those who want to explore all the beaches of the coast - including those a little further away in Palau, Santa Teresa and the La Maddalena archipelago in one direction, and Golfo Aranci, Olbia and San Teodoro in the other.

Porto Cervo

Porto Cervo is a 10-minute drive from Borgo Smeralda. It is the central hub of the Costa Smeralda, whose port, boutiques and renowned restaurants make this one of the undisputed jewels in the crown of luxury tourism in the Mediterranean, together with Capri and Saint Tropez.
Porto Cervo is a great place to go to dinner, shop for a special gift, or simply stroll along the quays and wander the shopping streets where designer brands alternate with original labels rarely found elsewhere. The Consorzio Costa Smeralda and a host of celebrated nightspots provide a busy calendar of unmissable events each summer.

Porto Rotondo

Just 15 minutes from Borgo Smeralda, Porto Rotondo retains its charming atmosphere of understated luxury. Its winding streets inspired by the walkways of Venice are home to little restaurants and original boutiques, and the innate elegance imparted by the founders of the village - the Venetian Counts Luigi and Nicolò Donà dalle Rose - is undeniable. The Fondazione Porto Rotondo has invested heavily in artistic works in recent years, completing the gorgeous church of San Lorenzo, the open-air amphitheatre and commissioning French artist Emmanuel Chapalain to design new paving for the village on the central Via del Molo.

San Pantaleo

Tucked away amongst ancient granite boulders, just a few kilometres from Borgo Smeraldo, is the little town of San Pantaleo, a charming village known for its eclectic market and renowned as being a village of artists. At the end of the 1800s it consisted of a country church and a few houses to accommodate the faithful during the feast of the patron saint. Nowadays it is one of the best-known destinations on the coast and is home to little artisan stores and quality craft workshops.

Activities at sea

Borgo Smeraldo organises exclusive excursions for its guests to the islands off Sardinia and Corsica on sailing and motor boats of any type and size.
Guests can also enjoy diving and snorkelling accompanied by professionals in the waters of the La Maddalena Archipelago National Park and in the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara.
The neighbouring bay of Cala di Volpe is popular for water-skiing, while not far from the village is Porto Pollo, a paradise for windsurfing and kitesurfing, famous for its sand dunes, an international crowd, and the world championships of both disciplines that take place there.

Activities ashore

Pevero Golf Club is just few minutes from Borgo Smeraldo, and offers an 18-hole, par 72 course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr that is ranked among the top 50 courses in the world.
With the help of our staff you can organise excursions to the many archaeological sites in the area. The region is rich in ancient monuments such as dolmens and "tombs of giants" erected in areas that are said to be “energetically charged", dating from the second millennium BC. Other sites host the famous nuraghe, towers of huge stones built during the same period by the ancient Sardinian civilisation.
On horseback: a few minutes from the Borgo Smeralda a qualified equestrian centre is available for unique experiences such as horse riding on the beach, along the waterways and through the hinterland of Gallura.
Among the activities practiced near to the village are sports climbing, accompanied by professional guides, and trekking excursions to discover the Sardinian hinterland.

Excursions

The staff of Borgo Smeraldo is at the complete disposal of guests interested in organising excursions, sporting activities and food and wine tours to enjoy a unique experience and discover the natural beauty and flavours of Sardinia. They are also always happy to indicate the paths and walks in the areas covered with wild Mediterranean scrub that surround Borgo Smeraldo.
Panoramic helicopter tours allow guests to see the island from an extraordinary perspective, with departure from the hotel's private heliport - also convenient for direct transfers to Sardinia's airports and any destination on the Italian mainland.
